Cheryl has been the Physical Education Specialist at Lawton since the 1993 – 1994 school year. Her primary goals are to promote life-long health and fitness by offering as many opportunities to her students using the “Success Oriented Physical Education” model. Cheryl received the prestigious 2005 Washington Coalition for Promoting Physical Fitness Award and the 2003 Recipient of the King County Coalition for Physical Activity’s “Physical Education Excellence Award”. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Central Washington University. In addition, she has a Masters in Educational Technology and her Administrative credentials.
In addition to her role as a staff member, Cheryl volunteers as a member of the Lawton PTA board, serves as a trainer for Seattle Physical Education Specialists, and is a member of the district Physical Education Curriculum Mapping Committee. In what free time she has, Cheryl enjoys playing on the staff volleyball team, reading, planning the next family vacation, and spending time with her family, especially her two children who attend Lawton.
