CalendarIn an effort to increase collaboration and communication, Lawton Elementary is soliciting parent and staff volunteers to participate on the Challenge All Students Team. This team will collaborate and make recommendations to the BLT regarding student class placements and instruction that will challenge all Lawton students. The group will engage in a book study on “The Cluster Grouping Handbook: How to Challenge Gifted Students and Improve Achievement for All.” After becoming informed as to how this school-wide model can best be implemented at Lawton.
WHEN
This team will be facilitated by Principal Helm and will meet every Thursday in January and February. The first meeting will be on Thursday January 13th in the Staff Lounge from 3:30 to 5:00. Ms. Helm will contact the six team members on Wednesday January 14th. Books will be provided and teachers will receive clock hours.
HOW?
Please answer the questions on the back of this document and submit a completed application to Ms. Helm by Tuesday January 11th at 3:00 PM. Ms. Helm will be choosing three parents who represent a wide variety of Lawton families and three staff members. All interested parties are encouraged to apply. You may attach additional paper if necessary.
Criteria for candidates:
- Able to meet every Thursday from 3:30 to 5:00 in January and in February
- Brings an open mind to consider the needs of all children at Lawton
- Willing to be collaborative and work in an advisory capacity
- Committed to reading and researching Cluster Grouping
- Assist in communicating with our greater Lawton community
